So, today I bought the first parts of what will become my new Imperial Guard army. Let me show you them.

First of all...

Cadian Battleforce. A good starting point for any Imperial Guard army.

Next up...

The Basilisk. If you like nothing more than sitting at the back of the field and raining death and doom on your opponent, this is the gun for you.

And finally...

... Oops? Did I buy the wrong kind of Imperials? Of course not, you fool. I meant to get them. See, this is the twist. While a loyal Imperial Guard force, the Carans cling quite strongly to their pre-Imperium pseudo-medieval heritage. This means that the Empire and Imperial Guard pieces will produce some nice, anachronistic jumbles on units that would never be found on any sane battlefield.

In other words, the perfect Warhammer 40,000 force!

Watch this space as the knights of the 1st Caran regiment start their path of honour, glory and bloody death to the enemies of mankind.

nice touch with the Empire models to mix and match and bring forth a little twist to the army.

Day 1 progress report, addendum:

Basilisk body is now assembled. The intention is to turn it into a manticore using the Empire Rocket Battery. However, at the moment anything I experiment with doesn't really scream 'multiple impact high-explosive deathy doom'. It's more 'How cute, someone stuck a rocket battery on the back of a basilisk chassis'.

I will endeavour to come up with something better tomorrow. Any thoughts or suggestions would be highly welcome though.

You might have to try putting a lot of them on there, alternately, you could try something with this dwarf drum though I don't know what's it's like on the reverse side or how large it is.  Combine it with some kind of barrel, drum or tube it should hopefully make the cone of a manticore rocket.

Well I already gave my two cents, either make it so that it's a rocket that fires lots of smaller rockets, or ues lots of them.

Day 5 progress report: (pictureless until my camera decides to play ball)

The Manticore project has been put on hold while I work out how to mount the multi-rocket launcher I have now designed.

I have now built 3 veterans, plus the heavy weapons team for that unit. Managed to convert the cloaks from the pistoliers / outriders into camo cloaks. This consisted mainly of removing the damn upraised arms. They look a bit clunky in places, but all in all I'm happy with them.

My first (more or less) completely built unit has turned out to be the sentinel. It's been constructed fairly orthodoxly, but with enough bitz stuck on left and right to make it stand out. (At least, I think so anyway.)

Anyway, as said, pics to follow asap.

SCREW YOU, LIFE.

So the Carans are still in pieces. They have NOT been abandoned, I promise.

That is all.
